The topic for tonight’s “outing” is, how do you know that Christianity is true? The short answer is, because God reveals it to you. John, in his letter we call 1 John, says,
¶ I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. (I John 5:13 ESV)
Notice that he says, to those who believe. He presupposes what Paul says in I Cor. 2:14,
The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned . (ESV)
Tonight, we will talk about what this means. After all, lots of people are “sure” of their beliefs, whatever they may be. Why is Christianity different?
